Show, 4pm – The sinking of the Titanic in the early hours of April 15, 1912, remains the quintessential disaster of the twentieth century.
A total of 1,517 souls—men, women and children—lost their lives (only 711 survived). The fact that the finest, largest, strongest ship in the world—called, in fact, the “unsinkable” ship—should have been lost during its maiden voyage is so incredible that, had it not actually happened, no author would have dared to contrive it.

It’s time for Wearin’ the Green and something new at Highland: live Irish dancing accompanied by an orchestra! The Paloma School of Irish Dance will demonstrate both traditional performance and social Irish dance, an art form originating in Ireland and famously characterized by an upright posture and rapid, intricate footwork. Irish dance developed in the 17th and 18th centuries under the influence of “traveling dance masters,” and has since evolved into a globally recognized art form, popularized by productions such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.
Founded in 2015 by Esther Pujol, the Paloma School of Irish Dance began with just a handful of students practicing in a kitchen. Today, it has grown into a vibrant school of more than 100 students. Its dancers have performed in over 200 events throughout the surrounding area, from nursing homes to concerts alongside Celtic bands from Ireland. “Paloma” means dove, highlighting the school’s focus on building dancers’ integrity, humility, and relationship with God. The goal is to help everyone reach their highest potential no matter what age, ability, or commitment. Some students pursue Irish dance competitively, others through performances, and many simply for the joy of the art.
This school, comprised of varying age groups, will get your hands and feet keeping time with their fast and intricate dance step movements. More advanced dancers even perform while playing musical instruments, never missing a beat with their feet!
